About our Baseball Head Coach / Spring U13 Team

Coach Don Eury joined the Falcons family as an Ashton/Sandy Spring native.  Growing up in Ashton Don played ball for the MCBBA's Woods Wildcats.  As he was told during tryouts by other players to “get off the field because this team wouldn’t take 5th graders”, Don proved them wrong and went on to become their shortstop and the only 5th grader on the team!

After a successful run in the MCBBA Don played simultaneously for Cissel Saxon’s Post 41 team in the American Legion league and on Sherwood High School’s winning team through his high school years.

Joining the ranks of local greats Don played for Edsal Martz – the renowned coach who ran a 360 day a year baseball academy and competed in the highly regarded Industrial League.  This 19U team went against former minor league and triple A players from DC, MD and VA – showcasing the best that amateur baseball had to offer.

Don received a full scholarship to Seminole college in Florida, where he played for two years and then continued his run playing on scholarship for Division 1 George Washington University.  He and his team mate Billy Goodman (also a Sherwood baseball star) were coached by Mike Toomey, who is now a baseball scout.  He rounded out his local baseball playing years on the Washington Black Socks – playing with local baseball greats like Charles “pickle” Smith.

Most recently Don has coached local teams (including both of his children's little league teams) into winning seasons and just successfully coached the local High School AAU league winning basketball team alongside our State’s attorney, John McCarthy!

We are excited to watch Don’s love of baseball and passion for youth sports mold the new U13 Falcons into a high school-ready group of technically sharp team players.  Don was carefully selected as the best coaching candidate for the U13 team because of his strong technical skills, work ethic, firm and supportive demeanor and passion for the sport.  With this, he led the BRAND NEW FALL U13's to second place - after winning their playoff bracket and then a strong showing at the league championship game!  During his down time Don can be found reading up on the latest baseball equipment, drills, players and psychology – or playing pickup games of basketball, golf or baseball all around the area.  We are honored to call Coach Don a member of the Falcons family.
